I am a 2003 graduate of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, ranked the #1 undergraduate engineering, science, and mathematics school in the country all four years I attended. It was also ranked as the #1 civil engineering program in the country during my last 3 years (they didn't rank departments my freshman year). Rose-Hulman is located in Terre Haute, Indiana. I majored in Civil Engineering with a minor in German. I also took and passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam which earned me the Engineer Intern License (EI).

I am now working as a Transportation Engineer with Butler, Fairman and Seufert, Inc. in Indianapolis, Indiana.

I am currently a Captain in the U. S. Army (IRR). I was assigned the XVIIIth Airborne Corps at Fort Bragg, NC. I deployed to Baghdad, Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom III (OIF III) from Dec. 2004 to Dec. 2005 and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Meritorious Unit Commendation. I also deployed to Baqubah, Iraq in support of OIF 06-08 from July 2006 to June 2007 as part of the Iraq Assistance Group (IAG) on a Military Transition Team (MTT) and was awarded the Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal with Valor, and the Combat Action Badge.

During the summer of 2001 I attended the US Army Airborne School at Ft. Benning, Georgia. Airborne School is a 3 week school to learn how to be a paratrooper. During the third week I made 5 jumps from two different aircraft (the C-130 and the C-17) while in flight. At the completion of the school I was awarded the Army Parachutist Badge.

I also attended the US Army Air Assault School at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii during the summer of 2002 and was awarded the Air Assault Badge.  This ten day school teaches soldiers about helicopter operations planning, MEDIVAC operations, setting up landing and pickup zones, slingload operations, and rappelling.     I was a Carpentry/Masonry Specialist in the 1413th Engineer Detachment (Util.) of the Indiana Army National Guard for two and a half years. The 1413th Engineer Detachment is located at Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh, Indiana. I went to Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in the summer of 1998 between my junior and senior year of high school. After graduation I went to Advanced Individual Training at Gulfport Naval Construction Training Center in Gulfport, Mississippi. I was in training with the Air Force and Navy. My class comprised of 16 Army students and 8 Air Force students, along with 2 Air Force instructors. I graduated that school as an honor student and was awarded the Indiana Commendation Medal for everything I had accomplished. Click here to see some pictures from my AIT.
